Parking tickets - Private land - anyone been to court?
I'm currently using information garnered from MoneySavingExpert website - but they seem hell bent on me riding the scary - we're gonna take your stuff letters - and actually go to court and contest my 4 minute stay in a pub car park

anyone fought a private car park fine here?

160 quid for 4 minutes seems savage to me

Just tell them to do one and see who blinks first!

I got clamped years ago in a pub carpark when I lived in Nottm.
The local gangster was running the clamping operation. These two geezers turned up in a shitheap with loads of old clamps in the back and asked for the money to release my car. I told them I wasn't going to pay and was going off to get some bolt cutters and that they were now responsible for my car. They said they would tow my car away and it would cost me more.
I replied "so you have a vehicle that can do that?" To which they replied unconvincingly "yes"
Couldn't get any bolt cutters as it was night time and none of my mates had a pair, so I returned to my car not really sure what my next move was and they had unclamped me.

I've had two of these, this is what happened both times:

1) Demand letter, full of red ink and threats. I appealed and they told me to fuck off

2) More demand letters, lots more red ink (looks scary, actually generic shit printed off in their 000's). I appealed to the popla or whatever the 'independant' adjudicator is. They told me to fuck off and I had to pay up

3) I threw away this letter and HEARD NO MORE ABOUT IT.

These 'businesses' work on a percentage of people shit scared enough to pay up, that's all they are interested in.

I would just ignore EVERYTHING they send you, admit nothing and if (and you won't) ever get a summons to court (will NEVER happen) then just pay them then (at the first, original 'fine' amount only) if you can't be bothered going.

Go on to Facebook and type in "FIGHT YOUR PRIVATE PARKING FINE" (or similar) - the geezer that runs it knows how to appeal and avoid paying 95% of the time. You pay him a tenner, supply copies of the "fine" and some other info and he does it all for you; just sorted mine last month.
